One of the most successful and biggest Korean Girl groups, BLACKPINK celebrates its fifth debut anniversary on this day, that is, on 8th August 2021. The group consist four girl member, named, Jennie, Jasso, Lisa and Rose and was initially formed in August 2016 by the South Korean entertainment agency, YG Entertainment with their debut solo album, “Square One” featuring two tracks named, “Boombayah” and “Whistle”. The group is known for its versatile music genre including, K-Pop, Electronic dance music (EDM), EDM Trap and Rap music. In the year 2020, Blackpink released their hit song, “Ice Cream” along with Selena Gomez and reached number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. We hope you are aware of the song named, “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” that was again sung by Blackpink and for which they received a certification from the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), thus, becoming the first Korean female group ever to receive so.
The group debuted in 2016, however, within the span of 5 years, they became one of the most successful Korean girl groups and received critical acclaim from all around the world. In this five year span, they have sung with numerous international artists, including Dua Lipa, Selena Gomez and others.

BLACKPINK Celebrates 5th Debut Anniversary
On 15th June 2021, the group took over their social media account and declared YG Entertainment new project titled, “4+1”, on the occasion of Blackpink’s 5th anniversary of their debut. Meanwhile, there has been a new announcement by the group over their Twitter account stating that they have collaborated with the “PUBG: Battlegrounds”. Moreover, to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Korean girl group, Blackpink, YG entertainment released “BLACKPINK: The Movie”, which was released on 4th August 2021. The movie showcases various aspects of the life of Blackpink including a segment named, “The Room of Memories”. In this segment, the fans will get to know, how the group was initially formed and how each member was shortlisted for the group.
The journey of each member has been quite incredible, escaping for Rose and Lisa who came from New Zealand and Thailand and established their place in the K-pop industry by adapting their culture, music and language and beautifully adapted and synchronized with the k-pop and western world. The movie also highlights their key performance at the concerts including behind the scenes. Within four days of its release, “BLACKPINK: The Movie” has sold more than 8,680 tickets, thus, becoming the top top-grossing films for the day.
