CBFC censored the Hanuman Chalish from Anushka Sharma’s Phillauri :- According to a report that Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has muted a lengthy scene featuring actor Suraj Sharma and actress Anushka Sharma, where in a scene of the movie actor Suraj is chanting the Hanuman Chalisa in the bathtub in order to get rid of the ghost of Anushka Sharma. As per the CBFC that the scene was incongruous since ghosts are supposed to be eradicated not pacified with the recital of the Hanuman Chalisa.
If someone has watched the film, there is no Hanuman Chalisa but Suraj’s long inaudible chant. CBFC gave a reason for that. There was a Hanuman Chalisa recital in Vikram Bhatt’s 1920 movie. The whole climax of that film consisted of Hanuman Chalisa when the character of Rajniesh Duggal recites it to save his wife from the ghost. When this was used in the same context in the movie 1920, it wasn’t censored from the film that time. But this time in the movie Phillauri, it was muted.
The Hanuman Chalisa was removed from Phillauri because the ghost is supposed to run away upon hearing the chants but it does not, on the other side in the movie 1920, the ghost is exported out of the body of Adah Sharma after hearing the chants. It is the double standard towards the movie Phillauri.
In the climax of the movie 1920, it was a Catholic priest who tried his prayers to get rid of the ghost but there is no effect on the ghost. The ghost was seen mocking the priest and his prayers but as soon as the hero starts Hanuman Chalisa the ghost runs away.
In which direction, the Central Board of Film Certification works. Is there anything wrong in the movie Phillauri’s Hanuman Chalisa recital or any other reason.
