Dhadak is an Indian tragic romance film written and directed by Shashank Khaitan. The movie is a remake of super hit Marathi film ‘Sairat’ which was released on 2016 and was a great hit.  The movie marked the debut of Janhvi Kapoor, who is the daughter of Sridevi and Boney Kapoor along with Ashutosh Rana on lead roles. the shooting began in December 2017 and was finished in April 2018. The movie was released on 20th July 2018.

The movie was made under the direction of Shashank Khaitan and was also written by Shashank Khaitan. The movie was jointly produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta. The movie is made under the banner Dharma Productions with Zee Studios. The music was given by Ajay-Atul and the lyrics were written by Amitabh Bhattacharya. The film was distributed by Zee Studios internationally.

Initially, Dhadak was scheduled to release on 6th July 2018 but was postponed. The movie then made its worldwide theatrical release on 20th July 2018. Dhadak was made under the budget of RS. 41 crore and was appeared as a commercial success, earning over ₹109 crore (US$15 million).

The movie was set in Rajasthan and the story revolves around the two young couple (Madhukar and Parthavi ) who fall in love but this love story is not like the other happily ever love tales. They soon discover the issues related to their love story. The movie shows how the characters deal with issues such as differences between castes and honour killings.
