After all cinema halls were shut in Delhi soon after the release, the film’s collections dropped and then ultimately became negligible. The makers had then determined to bring the film back to theatres once all this war over. Now, the film is being prepared for its online premiere as it will be streamed on Disney Plus on Hotstar VIP. ‘Angrezi Medium’ stars Irrfan Khan and Radhika Madan in lead roles with Kareena Kapoor, Deepak Dobriyal and Dimple Kapadia in pivotal roles. Irrfan took to Twitter to announce the release of the film on the streaming platform. Irrfan Khan, Radhika Madan and Deepak Dobriyal-starrer Angrezi Medium, is now out of Hotstar. The film has directed by Homi Adajania released on 13 March this year and was commercially hit by the closure of cinema halls and multiplexes in some states including Maharashtra over the same weekend due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Produced by Maddock Films and Jio Studios, Angrezi Medium brings together an incredible cast of Kareena Kapoor, Dimple, Kapadia, Pankaj Tripathi, Ranvir Shorey, Tillotama Shome besides Irrfan, Radhika and Deepak.
Angrezi Medium released to mixed reviews earlier this month. While Irrfan, Deepak and the rest of the cast were praised for their terrific performances, the script and direction were found lacking the same spark. In the flick, Radhika plays the role of Irrfan Khan’s daughter. The story is based on the struggles faced by Irrfan’s character to fulfil her daughter’s dream to study abroad. Helmed by Homi Adajania, the film also features Kareena Kapoor, Ranvir Shorey, Deepak Dobriyal, Pankaj Tripathi and Dimple Kapadia.‘
Angrezi Medium’ was released on March 13 as the coronavirus outbreak began making its presence believed in India. The film registered an opening of Rs 4.03 crore. It wrapped up at just Rs 9.36 crore as movie theatres pulled down their shutters ahead of a countrywide lockdown. Meanwhile, Irrfan has been undergoing treatment for cancer and couldn’t join the film team in promotions. He had urged for support on Twitter in an emotional post.
