Taapsee Pannu In Looop Lapeta- Hindi adaptation of famous German film Run Lola Run: Actress Taapsee Pannu has captured a new age thriller for herself that looks to promise from the word to go worldwide. In an announcement made by Taapsee on Tuesday, she revealed through her Twitter account that she has been signed on by Sony Pictures Films India and Ellipsis Entertainment to feature in the official Hindi adaptation of cult German film Run Lola Run. The 1998 thriller film was Germany’s official entry in the Oscars and it was one of the famous and most-watched movies across the world. Taapsee has joined by Mardaani actor Tahir Raj Bhasin in the lead as debutant Aakash Bhatia, who has lately helmed many ad-films, comes on the board as the director. The actress is ready to step into the shoes of German actress Franka Potente in the lead role. Tahir Raj Bhasin will be seen playing her boyfriend, originally played by Moritz Bleibtreu in the German film.

The film has been provided quite a quirky title – Looop Lapeta and the shooting of the film is all set to begin in Goa from April this year. In her latest interview with Mumbai Mirror, Taapsee expressed her excitement to be headlining the ‘coolest’ film of her career. She said this adaptation is a ‘quirky, insane addition’ to her repertoire and the story is full of cheeky humour. She was quoted saying, “I love how an iconic film like Run Lola Run has been adapted for the Indian milieu without losing its edge.
More excitingly, it’s been laced with amazingly cheeky straight-faced humour. It’s cool in the truest sense of the word and as bold thematically as it is stylistically.” Sharing the announcement on Twitter, she wrote, “I’m greedy for good scripts. Here’s one more. Sony Pictures India & Ellipsis Entertainment’s LOOOP LAPETA, thriller-comedy with @TahirRajBhasin. An adaptation of Run Lola Run (sic).”She also added, “Right, so here’s yet another announcement from my stable. I’m on a roll. Or shall I say in a looop? Stoked to announce Sony Picture India and Ellipsis Entertainment’s crazy thriller-comedy, LOOOP LAPETA, an adaptation of the cult classic Run Lola Run. Looking forward to the roller-coaster with my director Aakash Bhatia, my co-star Tahir Raj Bhasin, and the amazing folks at Ellipsis Entertainment (Tanuj, Atul) and Sony! Mark your calendar for 29th Jan 2021(sic).”
The original film titled Run Lola Run is directed by Tom Tykwer, actors Franka Potente and Moritz Bleibtrey played the lead roles. The story of the film was centered around those 20 minutes that turn Lola’s life into a race against time. The makers of Looop Lapeta spent around three years to adapt the script and made it as per the Indian audience. Like the original film, this adaptation is also getting ready to be praised by people.
