Salman Khan’s Bharat: PIL Filed in Delhi High Court Seeking to Change the Title of Film

Salman Khan’s Bharat: PIL Filed in Delhi High Court Seeking to Change the Title of Film: A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Delhi High Court seeking a change of the title of Salman Khan’s upcoming movie Bharat. The plea was filed on Thursday by activist Vipin Tyagi who said that the word Bharat cannot be used for commercial purpose.

He has requested the Delhi High Court to direct the producer and director of the film to change the title of the movie. Tyagi said that the title was in violation of Section 3 of Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act which prohibits the use of names “Bharat” for any trade, business, and profession.

He has also sought change in the dialogue where the character has been compared to the country, contending that it hurts the patriotic sentiments of the people of the country.

As per the Constitution, Bharat is the official name of the country, he argued. He has also sought a change in the dialogue where the character has been compared to the country.

Tyagi said the court should put an end to tricks of encashing the people’s patriotic sentiments and if such things don’t stop, patriotism will have a new vulgar look.

Salman Khan has been surrounded by controversies ever since he started promoting the film. Earlier, Priyanka opted out of the film to marry Nick Jonas. Salman Khan has still not gotten over this as he can be seen taking a dig at the actress at every media promotion. At a press conference, Salman Khan said, “She, over Bharat, did choose the USA in the ‘nick’ of time. She has worked so hard all her life, okay? And when she got the biggest film of her life, she dumped that film and got married. You know, hats off! Usually, people leave their husbands for a film like this.”

He has been making similar comments about the actress on various occasions.

Bharat is an adaptation of the Korean film An Ode To My Father. It traces the journey of a man and a nation together. It will release on June 5. Salman will be sporting five different looks in the film. Bharat is slated to be released on June 5.

“Having watched the South Korean film, I felt there is no need to name this film after our nation. It is merely a shameless, cunning stratagem to encash the deep-rooted feelings for the country, which was treasured by every Indian, in their hearts,” the petitioner said.

The activist added that after watching the trailer, he concluded that was a typical entertainer.
