Omerta is the biographical crime drama film that has been directed by the award-winning director Hansal Mehta. The film is starring Rajkummar Rao in the lead role of Ahmed Omar Saeed Shaikh a British born Pakistani terrorist. The film was released on 4th May 2018 in the theatre and now it is all set to stream from 25th July on ZEE5. Rajkumar Rao revealed that playing Omar Saeed was a challenging task and one of the toughest role he has ever played.
Rajkumar Rao disclosed in an interview ” To play Omar in Omerta is one of the challenging tasks that he has played on the screen. The character changed him completely and drained him physically and emotionally. He couldn’t ever think that he had to go on the dark places mentally to play this role. He added that it is the journey of one of the deadliest terrorist of his times. Hansal has gone over all his boundaries to carve him for the character. It is really thrilling that ZEE5 has decided to stream it on its online platform that can the entire world watch”.
Apart from Rajkumar Rao, the film is also starring Rajesh Tailang in the role of General Mahmud, Rupinder Nagra in the role of Maulana Ismail, Keval Arora in the role of Saeed Sheikh, Timothy Ryan Hickernell in the role of Daniel Pearl, Orvana Ghai in the role of Saadia, Harmeet Singh Sawhney in the role of Abdul, Sanjeev Mehta in the role of Maulana Mazhood Azhar, Satwant Kaur in the role of Qaisra Sheikh among others. The film has been produced by Nahid Khan while written by Hansal Mehta and Mukul Dev.
