Blackbuck poaching case: Salman Khan skips Jodhpur court hearing, next session on December 19: Bollywood actor Salman Khan skipped a court hearing in 1998 blackbuck poaching case scheduled for today. Meanwhile, Khan’s lawyer informed the District and Sessions Court that the actor was busy with the shooting of an upcoming movie. According to the reports, Salman’s lawyer filed two applications in the court. The advocate also mentioned in the court about the threat Salman Khan has received days ahead of the hearing in connection with the case. The threat, which carried a photo of Salman Khan with a red cross, was posted on Facebook by an account named Gary Shooter on September 16.
The said social media post read, “Salman, think, you can save yourself from Indian law, however, Vishnoi Samaj and Sopu Party have announced a death sentence for you. You are an accused in Sopu’s court.”
The next date of hearing is December 19. The hearing was in a case related to the alleged poaching of two blackbucks in a Rajasthan village during the shoot of his film 1999 film Hum Saath Saath Hain. Salman was convicted in the case, while his co-stars Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam Kothari were acquitted.
Salman was sentenced to five-year imprisonment, however, the court later granted him bail after he spent two nights at the Jodhpur jail.
A few months ago, the actor was summoned by a sessions court in Jodhpur. Also, the court had earlier asked the actor’s lawyer to ensure his presence during the hearing, or else he was at the risk of his bail being cancelled. Reportedly, the actor has not appeared before the court since May last year, when he was granted bail.
During the last hearing, the defence counsel had sought exemption for Khan from an appearance in the court, after which the court asked the actor to be present before it as he had been absent since the beginning of the hearing on his plea.
