The most awaited period drama film of Sanjay Leela Bhansali titled ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ had been on halt in March due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, the set is still standing in Mumbai. The crew is still waiting for the approval to resume the shooting with strict guidelines. The shooting will be started soon as the government give the approval to restart production work. The film is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali while produced by Jayantilal Gada and Bhansali himself. Sanjay has got Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi in his film to play the lead role along with Alia Bhatt. Ajay and Emraan are collaborating the second time. The duo was last seen in ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai’.
At the starting of the year, Emraan has already shot his part of shooting with Alia Bhatt while Ajay Devgn will be shooting his portion with Alia and other cast members after the lockdown gets over. Ajay is playing the role of gangster Karim Lal while Emraan will play the role of Shoaib Khan. Apart from the leads, the film will also star Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz, Seema Pahwa, M.K Raina, and many others. ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ is the dream project for Sanjay Leela Bhansali. After the wrap up of the film, he is planning to start the shoot for the musical drama ‘Baiju Bawra’.
As per the sources, SLB is planning to star Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Kapoor as the lead in the film, while Ajay is also in the talks to play the supporting role. It is just speculations as we all know that Ajay has so many films in his kitty.
When the makers were asked whether the film will mark the theatrical release or digital? sources said, “This film has been made for theatres and SLB wants to release it in the theatres as soon as possible.
