The notable choreographer Saroj Khan has said goodbye to all of us on Friday early morning at 71 due to cardiac arrest. She is one of the renowned dance choreographers of Bollywood and won three times National Awards for Best Choreography for the song Dola Re Dola from Devdas, all songs of Sringaram and Yeh Ishq Haaye from Jab We Met. She had some breathing issues for about weeks and due to complications, she was admitted to the Guru Nanak hospital based in Bandra, Mumbai. She also had tested for COVID-19 but she was found negative. Her health was doing better in the last weeks but has passed away today early morning due to cardiac arrest.

She started her career as an independent choreographer with the film Geeta Mera Naam in 1974 and after that, she worked as a choreographer in many popular films for Sridevi such as Mr India, Chandni, and Nagina. She also choreographed Madhuri Dixit for Ek Do Teen, Tamma Tamma Loge, Dhak Dhak Karne Laga, and Thanedaar. Thereafter, she appeared as one of the popular and successful dance choreographers in Bollywood.
Many renowned celebrities came on social media to express their grieve for the star. Choreographer and director Farah also came to her social media handle and penned “She was the inspiration for most of hers and said thank you for the songs she gave”. She has choreographed over 2000 songs and many of them are hit numbers with the performance. Saroj Khan’s daughter Sukaina wrote on social media that her mom was buried around 7 AM in the morning at the cemetery in Suburban Malad.
The Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh tweeted on social media. He started with Rest in peace Saroj Khan and added that this loss is unbearable for the entire industry and the movie & dance lovers. He is glad that she has choreographed him in Aladin. Many celebrities offered their condolence to Saroj including megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Tapsee Pannu, Manisha Koirala, and many others.
