Karan Johar along with Ranveer singh and Rohit Shetty and the producers of the film, shared the first official poster of the film introducing Ranveer with the handlebar moustache and in a police avatar. Karan took the lead to announce the film with the caption, “28th December 2018!! Rohit Shetty will be back…. Ranveer Singh as SIMMBA”. The poster is released on twitter and got more than one million views on YouTube in just few weeks.
Director Rohit Shetty already made the announcement about making a film with Ranveer few months ago. He quoted by saying, “I am doing a film with Ranveer which will be full of action. This will be the first time people will see him performing so many action sequences. He has great energy and after working with him in a commercial, even I believe so.”
According to the reports, the idea of the film has been taken from Telugu film ‘Temper’ which Rohit has already attained the rights of the same. However, he also claimed that the movie is not a remake, but the fans will see only a few scenes from the Telugu film ‘Temper’ which is incorporated in this film. Although earlier the movie was first set to release with Shah Rukh Khan’s Movie Zero, which was set to clash during Christmas season and could have affected the collection of the movie in box office. If talking about the probable business, might get affected due to the release of these two films together. The Director Sunil Shetty after discussion decided to change the release dates a week apart.
Director Sunil Shetty said when asked on this topic “I think one week is enough and there is no competition. Earlier we were planning to come on the same day, but then we went into a discussion.”
He added by saying “We decided not to come together because that would affect numbers. It was a mutual decision. If the film does well in the first week, it will go on.”
