The world has been suffering from hazardous disease Coronavirus for a few months. World Health Organization (WHO) has announced it as a pandemic. Schools have been closed for a month, work from home has been provided to the employees in many countries, tours are being canceled, promotions and shooting paused for somedays. As India has seen approx 60 cases till Wednesday, March 11, films will be likely to postpone.
Lately, 12 coronavirus cases in Kerala has been identified, the government has lately announced that theatres across the state will be locked until March 31. The cases of the disease are increasing as the days pass. The outbreak of covid-19 is a huge threat to the whole world. Akshay Kumar’s highly awaited Sooryavanshi, that is directed by Rohit Shetty is set for March 24 release for now. But as per the latest reports, Akshay, Rohit, Shibashish Sarkar of Reliance Entertainment and Karan Johar have been holding meetings regarding the delay of their film. While the trailer was released on March 2, the first song launch was canceled.
India has approved as many as 52 coronavirus cases. The outbreak of the disease has been termed as a Public Health Emergency by WHO. In the track of the same, the government has called off many public meetings including IIFA 2020. Here, the question arises that will this have an impact on the collections of a film, admitting the fact that people are avoiding huge gathering places to visit like shopping malls, movie theatres, etc. It is the wait and watches scenario everyone is wondering whether the big-budget films like Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi would be pushed further to a new release date?
Well now, the question has now been answered by the Group CEO of Reliance Entertainment, Shibashish Sarkar, in an interview to Spotboye exposed that if the situation didn’t get better, then the release date might be delayed. Talking about the same, he said, “No decision taken yet. We are talking daily but as of now, things stand as is – that is the films will release on their original dates. If at all we need to look at a change, we will do so closer to the delivery. Definitely we are thinking about it, the entire world is – be it any event, party or any gathering, everyone is thinking twice about organizing it.”
If we talk about Sooryavanshi, actor Akshay Kumar will be seen in the role of an ATS officer Veer Sooryavanshi on a lookout for terrorists planning a dangerous strike in Mumbai. Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh will also reprise their pivotal roles of Singham and Simmba to help Akshay bust the terror plot. Actress Katrina Kaif will be seen as Veer Sooryavanshi’s wife while Jackie Shroff is playing one of the antagonists. It was initially scheduled to hit the theatres on March 24.
The inside news is that Sooryavanshi in all probability will be postponed to next month. Our sources inform, “Though the exact date is not confirmed yet, the announcement of the delay and the new release date is expected to be done on the coming weekend.” This seems like the correct decision for now. Source adds, “The postponing of Sooryavanshi’s release seems like a wise decision now since footfalls to the theatres seem to be falling at many places both in India and overseas. The Coronavirus threat is real and people don’t want to take any chances.”
