Vivek Agnihotri’s Film ‘The Kashmir Files’ To Release In August 2020: Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has announced his next film before a long time ago. ‘The Kashmir Files’ is based on the genocide of Kashmiri Hindus. The film has scheduled to hit the screen on 15 August 2020. Vivek Agnihotri Tweeted last year on 14th August 2019 that “Presenting The Kashmir Files. Next year, same time, on our 73rd Independence anniversary, we will bring you the unreported story of the most tragic and gut-wrenching genocide of Kashmiri Hindus. Please bless our team as it’s not an easy story to tell,” Agnihotri tweeted. The filmmakers also shared a poster of the movie, which was featuring a map of Kashmir in a burnt orange shade and had “The right to truth continues” written on it.
The Kashmir Files Release Date
Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has started shooting the first schedule of his new project, “The Kashmir Files”, across the UK, USA, and Canada.”The Kashmir Files” is based on the genocide of Kashmiri Hindus. Agnihotri, along with his wife and actress Pallavi Joshi, were interviewing displaced Kashmiri Pandits, who have now settled far away from their residence.

Talking about the first schedule, Agnihotri said: “I believe that this is the first schedule of ‘The Kashmir Files’ and the most difficult part of the filming process because it involves real people and real stories, which Pallavi and I would capture on camera. Once I get this right, it is half battle won.” he adds “The research for this project is an extensive one and I want to channelize my energy to digging as deep as possible to get the truth out. This incident should have gone down in the annals in history, but where is it? How many people know about its magnitude?”

Agnihotri also shared that he is making the film on public demand. He said: “A film like ‘The Kashmir Files’ has to bring out the truth or else it will be just another film that will come and go. I’m making this film ‘by demand’ – I have numerous well-wishers who have urged me to pick up this subject. “I have had people calling me on phone and breaking down and telling me about how they have been witness to their father being butchered into 50 pieces or mother being raped. I owe them the truth”.
How it’s different from The Tashkent Files movie?
The director of the film had earlier made ‘The Tashkent Files’. This was revolving around the mysterious death of Lal Bahadur Shastri in 1966, soon after the Tashkent Agreement between the two nations India and Pakistan to end their war in 1965. The Tashkent files movie was starring Naseeruddin Shah, Pallavi Joshi, Shweta Basu, Pankaj Tripathi, Mithun Chakraborty, and Vinay Pathak.
