Gulabo Sitabo is a Hindi language comedy-drama that has been directed by Shoojit Sircar. The film has been produced by Sheel Kumar and Ronnies Lahiri, and the story is written by Juhi Chaturvedi. The film is starring Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Ayshmann Khurrana. The production work of the film started in May 2019. The release date of the film has been changed many times, last time it was decided to release on 17th April 2020 but due to coronavirus pandemic it couldn’t be released and now the makers are planning to release the film direct on OTT platform without a theatrical release. It was scheduled to stream on 12th June on Amazon Prime Video worldwide but now it seems to be impossible because the film caught criticism from the theatre owners including big players PVR and INOX, they are suggesting that makers must wait for the theatres reopening.
Kamal Gianchandani, CEO of PVR pictures said to the news portal that ” The chain of the film is dissatisfied with the decision with Gulabo Sitao’s makers, they are planning to release the film straight on the OTT platform. They said that they were hoping to the makers to exceed the date of releasing the film until the theatre doesn’t get reopen.

Akshaye Rathi, The Leading Exhibitor said that the cast may have done a great job on the big screen because it is including Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana together. It may cross over 100 crores. If we take an eye on the last projects of Ayushmann Khurrana, he really did well and given many blockbuster films. He also added that it is the maker’s choice where they want to release it but it can be the precedent and it may show the negative impact on the upcoming film. He said that in the OTT platform a film might earn this much.
There are so many people who are advising the producer to extend the date and wait for a theatrical release. Many experts are advising to wait for the theatre magic because it is going to be one of the excellent projects of makers. The film is starring the collaboration of extraordinary actors.
If makers go with the advice of experts then the release of the film will take a long break and it can be released after the pandemic gets over. If the theatres open at this time, only a few people would be able to go and watch the film due to safety precautions.
