Basu Chatterjee was an Indian film director, producer and also screenwriter who has worked on many films and serials during the 1970s and 1980s. He was born in Ajmer, Rajasthan. He was a great filmmaker who has made many hit daily soaps and films. As per the latest reports, he had some old-age ailments that start attacking the human body in the old days of life. He died at the age of 90 years in India. He has majorly made Bangali films as he belongs to the Bengali family. If we talk about his last film so it was the Bengali film Trishanku released in 2011.
Many big personalities came on the social media handle to mourn and console his family. Ashok Pandit, Indian Film & TV Director came on his twitter handle and share a monochrome picture of the director and wrote ” He wants everyone to inform about the demise of the veteran filmmaker Basu Chatterjee and last rites will be performed at 2 PM in the noon at Santacruz Cremation. He added to say that he will miss him and it is a great loss for the film industry”.
The veteran actress Shabana Azmi also came to her social media handle and unfold her mourn to the filmmaker Basu Chatterjee and wrote ” It was devastating and shocking news for her. She said he was one of the best filmmakers in the industry and happy that she has done three of his films such as Jeena Yahan, Apne Paraye, and Swami”.
The director and producer of Gulabo Sitabo, Shoojit Sircar also came on Tweeter and wrote: ” He unveiled that he first performed as an assistant director with Basu Chatterjee in Bengali serial and wishes his soul rest in peace”.
Popular actor Manoj Joshi came on his twitter handle and says ” His heartfelt condolence on the demise of veteran director Basu Chatterjee and ends to say that Basu Da has gone and with him, an era ended”. Fans of the filmmaker are pouring a bundle of images still from the film to remember his beautiful journey. The filmmaker has made many films and his last successful film was Chameli Ki Shaadi that was starring Anil Kapoor and Amrita Singh in the lead roles. Apart from it, he has made many daily operas for DD National such as Byomkesh Bakshi, Ek Prem Katha, Bheem Bhavani, Darpan, Rajini, Kakaji Kahin, and Ek Ruka Hua Faisla.
