GATE 2020: Registration, Application Form, Exam Dates, Syllabus, Eligibility & Pattern

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, is going to conduct the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2020. The online registration for GATE 2020 all set to start from the month of September, 2019. The registration for GATE 2020 is going to be held through online on the official website at gate.iitd.ac.in. GATE score is also used by many other private colleges and institutions for admissions. Further, many Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) consider GATE scores for recruitment process.

This year in 2019, the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) was conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras on the month of February on different dates such as 2, 3 and 9, 10. GATE is a joint test conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) for admission to Master’s/Doctoral programs offered by these institutions and other Government agencies.

GATE 2020 Application Form

The exam is held on the basis of 24 subjects comprising Aerospace Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Architecture and Planning, Civil Engineering, Biotechnology, Instrumentation Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering and many other subjects.

GATE Application Fee 2020

Applicants need to pay the application fee through Net banking, Debit card or net banking only. Given below is the information for the various category and the various cities(for paying a fee).

Examination centres in India

Application fee for SC/ST/PwD/Female candidates

  • Rs 750 if applied on or before September 24, 2019
  • Rs 1250 if applied during the extended period

Application fee for all other candidates

  • Rs 1500 if applied on or before September 24, 2019
  • Rs 2000 if applied during the extended period

Examination centres outside India

Application fee for Addis Ababa, Colombo, Dhaka & Kathmandu candidates

 

  • US$50 if applied on or before September 24, 2019
  • US$70 if applied during the extended period

Application fee for Dubai and Singapore candidates

GATE 2020: Eligibility criteria

All the candidates who are interested in appearing in the GATE 2020 examination, must have a graduation degree in BE, BTech, BPharmacy, BArch, BSc (Research), BS, MA, MSc, MCA, Int MSc or Int BSMS in 2019 or else they should have finished their Int ME, MTech (post BSc) or a double degree after 10+2.

GATE 2020 Admit Card 

Applicant has to download the ADMIT CARD from the website GOAPS.Only the candidates who have successfully submitted their application will get Admit Cards.Candidates will get admit card through online mode by entering their enrollment ID/email address & password.

GATE 2020: Steps to Register

At first, you have to visit the official website at gate.iitd.ac.in

On the homepage, click on the tab ‘GATE 2020’

At next, you will be directed to a new webpage where you have to enter your credentials such as email ID and mobile number.

Enter the asked details correctly for successful registration

Log in with your enrollment ID and password

Enter all the vital details and also upload your photograph, signature, and at the end complete the payment process

Click on submit to complete the registration process.

GATE 2020: Application Fee

For all the unreserved categories, the application fee will be Rs 1,500

For all the Women candidates, the application fee will be Rs 750

For all the reserved categories such as SC/ST/PwD, the application fee will be Rs 750

For all the international candidates, the application fee is going to be USD 50

GATE 2020 Answer Key

The exam will end in the 2ns week of February 2020 tentatively. The authorities will release the answer key after the completion of exams. There will be a separate answer key provided for each discipline. There will be a reasonable fee for the answer key challenge facility.

GATE 2020 Result

The results for the GATE 2020 will be available on the GOAPS portal which will be on the GATE website and also download their scorecard by entering their registration number and date of birth. Candidates will check GATE 2020 result in the third week of March 2020. GATE scorecards will only be available after the declaration of results. The Applicants will get the GATE scorecards whose marks are equal or more than the cutoff marks.

GATE 2020 Scorecard 

Only the applicants who qualified will be provided with the GATE scorecard. The GATE score card will be valid for three years after the released results. The GATE 2020 scorecard will have the information about the performance and the entrance test. Applicants will be able to download the scorecard tentatively from March 2020.

GATE 2020 cut off 

The admissions for the IIT’s & IISC will be decided on the GATE Cut Off marks for an applicant.The GATE cut off marks helps to understand if the applicant is qualified for exams or not.GATE 2020 marks are different for each stream. There are two types of candidates PRIMARY and UNRESERVED, and the CUT OFF marks are reserved for each.

Marking scheme of GATE:

The GATE examination paper comprises of MCQ type questions and for each incorrect answer the marks are deducted such as for 1 mark MCQ, 1/3 mark will be deducted if you have given the wrong answer. Similarly, for 2-mark MCQ, 2/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. While, on the other hand there is no negative marking for a wrong answer in NAT questions.

GATE 2019 Results Details:

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras has recently declared the results of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2019 on 15th March 2019 on the official website at gate.iitm.ac.in.

In that examination, a 21 year old boy Shashank Mangal, from Morena district of Madhya Pradesh got the first rank in GATE 2019. He has scored a total number of 989 marks out of 1,000.

About GATE:

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is basically an examination which is held all over India that primarily tests the inclusive understanding of a number of undergraduate subjects in engineering and technology.

The exam is mainly held for admissions into post-graduate programmes in Indian institutes of higher education along with financial assistance delivered by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and other additional government organizations.
