LG launched “Rainbow” camera, 3D Arc Design for its upcoming phones

Amid the struggle to get its business back on track, LG is continuously trying and struggling to match the success as its rivalries are enjoying by introducing its smartphones in various price categories. The main struggle that the smartphone manufacturer is facing is how to make their phones distinctive when compared to the rivalry smartphones. Till date, all the LG smartphones share the same design with few modifications. However, it seems that LG is changing its trend as the company has announced a new design language for its smartphones which “taps into nature with visual elegance, tactile perfection.”

LG launched “Rainbow” camera

LG has issued a statement providing details regarding the design-wise changes in its upcoming smartphones such as the camera module on its next-generation phones will bear resemblance to a “rainbow”. The “rainbow” camera setup refers to vertical alignment of sensors wherein the main sensor is dominant and is big in size while all the other small-sized sensors lie below, along with an LED flash at the bottom-most position, eliciting dripping raindrops.

According to the South Korean company, the “rainbow” camera design will bring a distinction to the square-shaped multiple-camera setups that are mounted on the smartphones nowadays. The statement read, “This tactilely pleasing design layout offers the added benefit of taking up less space on the rear of the phone for a cleaner, sleeker overall look.”

Moreover, the company has also said that its upcoming phone will bear a new design element called 3D Arc Design that refers to the design wherein the edges of a smartphone’s display and rear are “symmetrically curved”. According to LG, this design will bring in “a much more natural feeling in the hand than previous LG phones” and the idea behind the 3D Arc Design is to minimize the angled design in favour of arcs on the edges.

The vice president Cha Yong-Duk, head of LG’s Mobile Communications Design Lab said, “Our upcoming smartphone will draw on the rich history of classic LG designs which have always been distinctive at first touch. This handset will be a first-look at the competitive edge we will be bringing to every LG smartphone going forward.”

It also being rumoured that LG is going to scrap the G-series and introducing a new premium range that will sit below the V-series. Before this particular speculation surfaced, LG was reportedly working on LG G9 with a Snapdragon 765G SoC and 5G support. However, the reports say that the LG G9 could now debut with a new name under a new smartphone series.
