Xiaomi is all set to host its first launch event of the year 2020 today in the form of a new launch for its Redmi sub-brand. Redmi is going to launch the successor to the Redmi 8A that was launched only a few months ago. Even though Xiaomi hasn’t revealed it, it is most likely to be called the Redmi 9A. Alongside the Redmi 9A, the launch event is also expected to bring a Redmi-branded power bank as well as the anticipated RedmiBook notebook to the country. It could be the recently unveiled RedmiBook 13. The official launch won’t take place at a physical location, though it will be live-streamed through an online video. The event will begin at 12 pm today and you can watch the live stream on Xiaomi India’s Twitter handle and the company’s website.
Redmi 9A, RedmiBook to Launch in India
The company’s microsite has revealed that Redmi 9A will house a 5,000 mAh battery. As for the design, it will come with a textured back and will be available in a blue colour option. The microsite also revealed that the smartphone will feature a waterdrop notch display. The Redmi 9A is expected to be powered by MediaTek Helio G70 chipset that we saw in the newly-launched Realme C3.
RedmiBook 13 debuted in China last year at a starting price of CNY 4,199 (approx Rs 42,000). As per the China version specifications, the laptop sports a 13.3-inch full-HD anti-glare display with an 89 percent screen-to-body ratio. It has Nvidia GeForce MX250 graphics and 8GB of RAM and 512GB of onboard storage. It is powered by the 10th generation of Intel Core processor. RedmiBook 13 has a metal body and DTS surround sound audio support.
Manu Jain, Xiaomi India head also teased a teaser video of what looks like a power bank. It is expected that the company might launch 10,000 or 20,000 mAh capacity battery bank today at the event. There are rumours that it will feature a premium metallic build and will come with support for 27W fast charging as well as having a bigger capacity than the exiting Mi Powerbank variants. The Redmi power bank with 10,000mAh capacity carries a price tag CNY 59 (roughly Rs. 602), while its 20,000mAh counterpart is priced at CNY 99 (roughly Rs. 1,000).
It is expected that the company would use a similar pricing structure for its power bank launch in India. The two Redmi power banks launched in China debuted with a USB Type-C port. The power banks also included one Micro-USB port and two USB Type-A ports. The one with 20,000mAh capacity also supports fast charging with an input rating of 5V and 2A, 9V and 2.1A, and 12V and 1.5A, and output rated at 5.1V and 2.4A, 9V and 2A, and 12V and 1.5A.
