Nice, France: A terrorist killed 80 people and several injured when a terrorist drove a 25-tonne truck at high speed into a crowd watching France’s Bastille Day Fireworks in the France riviera city of Nice late night on Thursday.
The large white truck which was driven by a terrorist plunged into the crowd at around 11:00pm (2100 GMT) Thursday night. Hundreds of people were on Nice’s beachfront Promenade des Anglais to watch the fireworks for France’s national day.
A terrorist transformed a truck into a simply but deadly weapon of terror. He slammed the truck into the spectators watching the fireworks at Promenade des Anglais seafront, listening to an orchestra strolling above the beach towards the century old hotel Negresco.
The Terrorist drove the truck to 2 km through the crowd and left 80 people dead and several injured.
Eight months ago, Islamic State gunmen and suicide bombers struck the French capital on a festive Friday evening. According to Newspaper sources in Nice stated that the terrorist driver was a 31-year-old local of Tunisian origin.
The President of France Hollande came back to Paris from South France after the attack. The President now extended the state of emergency for three months more which would be end in the two weeks.
US President Barack Obama said in a statement that I condemned in the strongest words what appeared to be horrific in Nice of France and USA is always with the Government of France and the people of France in this situation.
President of India Pranab Mukherjee also condemned and said that I was shocked to hear about the attack on the innocent crowd of people celebrating the Bastille Day in Nice, France. President also said that India stands shoulder to shoulder with the Government of France and the people of france as it respond to this attack.
Prime Minister Narendra modi said that I strongly condemned such mindless act of violence and My thoughts are with the families of deceased.
Nice is a city of some 350,000 and has a history as a flamboyant, aristocratic resort but is also a gritty metropolis. Nice city has seen dozens of its Muslim residents travel to Syria to fight, a path taken by previous Islamic State attackers in Europe.
