On Wednesday, the 58-year-old took sworn in, which has the support of 118 MLAs from the JD(S)-Congress-BSP coalition in the House.
At the same time, due to the Congress has 78 MLAs, Kumaraswamy’s Janata Dal (Secular) has 37, and Bahujan Samaj Party has 1.
The association has claimed that this has the support of the lone KPJP MLA who is an independent candidate.
Kumaraswamy himself holds two seats having won from two constituencies.
BS Yeddyurappa from the BJP took sworn in as the chief minister on the 17th May, resigned two days afterward just ahead of a floor test because the national party has 114 MLAs.
The 224-member Assembly has an effective strength of 221 because OF the election for Jayanagar seat was countermanded subsequent to the death of the BJP candidate, and postponed in RR Nagar because of the allegations of the electoral malpractices.
On Friday, the public will see the race for Speaker play out due to the both a Congress and a BJP candidate have submitted nominations for the same post.
