On Monday Night Pro kabaddi Player Wife Dead Rohit Kumar Commits Suicide :- On Monday night, the wife of a national kabaddi player hung herself from a ceiling fan at her parents’ home in west Delhi, alleging dowry harassment in two-and-half-hour long voice messages.

Lalita Dabas, 28, married 26-year-old Rohit Kumar, in March. A few weeks ago, Lalita Dabas had left her in-laws house and moved in with her parents in Nangloi, New Delhi.

Lalita left behind a suicide note in which she accused her in-laws of demanding dowry and Kumar, who played for Bengaluru Bulls in the recently concluded Pro-Kabaddi League, of a share in the property of her father.

An Aunt said that Lalita also wrote the pass code for unlocking her mobile phone, a gift from her husband.  In that phone, she left two voice messages – one of them was two-hour-long.

Mukul Kharb who is cousin of Lalita, said that she was constantly crying and apologised to her parents. She said her in-laws and Rohit tortured her and misbehaved with her.

A case of harassment, dowry, and death was registered against Rohit Kumar, who is with the navy which he joined in 2009 under the sports quota, and his parents on Tuesday.

DCP(West) – Vijay Kumar said that  a team went to the Kumar’s Kanjhawala home in outer Delhi but it was locked, adding the message and the note would be sent for forensic examination.

According to the sources close to the player and Lalita’s family said that the marriage was under strain and the couple rarely spent time together. Lalita lived with her in-laws in Delhi and Kumar in Mumbai.

The parents of deceased Lalita said that the couple married after dating for a year. It was the second marriage of Lalita.

Karan Dabas who is the father of Lalita, alleged that the parents of Rohit had demanded a diesel-run Fortuner and more money on the wedding day. Lalita’s father Karan Dabas retired as a conductor from DTC. Lalita’s family was to gift a Honda City but cancelled the booking as the Kumar refused to accept that car.

On Monday, Lalita went to a room lying unused on the first floor of her parents’ house, saying she wanted to clean it. When she did not return to the second floor, where her parents lived, her mother Sushila decided to check on her but the room was locked.

A family member said that the husband of Sushila broke open the door and found Lalita hanging from a ceiling fan.
